“When it comes to community service and extending her hands to the needy of the society, Anju Ramodhin does not hold back. She is socially very much involved in different NGOs/Associations namely, Rotary Club of Quatre-Bornes, Blood Donors Eastern, La Porte Du Bonheur, Mrs Mauritius and newly nominated as the Ambassador of the SugarCane Boy Book Club for the East Coast, Mauritius. She offers 20 years of experience in the Education Sector and currently works at the Mauritius Qualifications Authority. She holds a BSc (Hons) Management and a Master in Business Admiration (MBA).As a newly nominated Ambassador, she aims to contribute continuously & enormously with passion and devotion towards shaping the lives of people through various activities while considering the Rotary’s 7 areas of focus; Support Education, Fighting Diseases, Providing Clean Water, Sanitation & Hygiene, Promoting Peace, Saving Mother’s & Children, Growing Local Economies and Supporting Environment. Subsequently, as a Rotarian she gives importance to the motto ‘Service Above Self’. She firmly believes that motivating children to becomes readers means giving them the key to a worldwide community. According to her, this does not happen overnight and we need to help spark their literacy and then keep it by inspiring and encouraging them. All children deserve the opportunity to learn to use reading in their lives to become literate.

“With ‘The SugarCane Boy: The Journey Begins’ a lifelong literacy journey would begin with exciting steps as our children experience the thrill of getting lost in the magical story written by the young author Alyssia Reddy, in the guidance of his father Samuel T. Reddy! I believe like Neil Gaiman says: “Books make great gifts because they have whole worlds inside them”, she says.
